Journey into Action Research

Through the readings I have come to understand that my journey into action research will be aided by the use of blogging, surveying, analyzing and implementing what I learn along the way. Collaboration through open communication and first hand gathering of information will make my journey more meaningful and effective. Action research differs from the traditional research methods because the gathering of information will not be done by outsiders rather by those who know the needs of the school and students. The facilitator assumes the role of "knowledge generator". (Dana)

Effective leaders welcome action research and are open to implementing changes based on findings and reflect on the changes. The leader will lead through example in the hopes of establishing a comfort in the use of action research. I believe, based on readings, action research is important to professional development and helpful to those who need help in changing old habits.

Delving into the process of action research is going to be a welcoming journey. I believe that it is the way to lead effectively. I enjoy the idea of collaborating for the sake of a positive end result. Stake holders working together to determine ways to learn from research, in order, to improve the school, district and community is the way to go.
